We are here to lend a paw

At The Heavenly Hound, we genuinely know what it feels like to love a pet with all your heart – because we're pet parents ourselves. They're not just companions; they're loved members of our families. From our own peaceful, 15-acre family property here in Liberty, Indiana, we, Susan Danner and Andy Abner, pour our hearts into providing the most compassionate and understanding care when it's time to say goodbye.

Every beloved pet holds a special place in our hearts, and we take pride in honoring their unique memory with the deepest respect and dignity they deserve. It's our personal commitment to ensure your family feels supported and cared for during such difficult moments.

Let us help you celebrate the beautiful life you shared, offering comfort, love, and compassion every step of the way.

Get to know us

Our journey to open our doors to the community has been filled with a shared passion for animals and a deep understanding of the bond between pets and their parents. Owned and operated by Susan and Andy, we are dedicated pet parents who have created a compassionate space for those facing the loss of a beloved pet.

Our home is filled with our four hound dogs -- Daizy, Bee, Junior, and Ernie, as well as our five cats Ninja, Crash, Lazarus, Boots, and Sunny. While we recently experienced the loss of our hounds, Jethro & Hazel, they will always be a part of our home. We understand and appreciate the love and joy that pets bring into our lives. Susan holds a degree in Animal Science from Missouri State University, and both of us have undergone extensive training to ensure that our cremation services are conducted ethically and respectfully.

Our state-of-the-art equipment allows us to provide safe and efficient cremation services, built on a foundation of trust. We have designed our facility to offer a quiet, peaceful, and private environment, ensuring that pet parents feel supported as they say goodbye to their beloved friends. Our mission is to provide comfort and closure during difficult times, honoring the journey that each pet and their family share.

The Hounds

We cherish each and every animal because we know just how much they mean to you. Now, let me give you a peek into the story behind our business name—it's all about the hounds. They're not just pets; they're our heart and soul, bringing us more happiness than anything else in the world. The idea of ever losing them is heart-wrenching. That's why The Heavenly Hound is more than a business to us—it's a passion to provide services built on respect, trust, and dignity. Our goal is simple: to bring comfort to those who, like us, have felt the deep pain of saying goodbye to a beloved companion.

Hazel

Beagle

09/02/2013-11/18/2025

I don't even know where to start, as I could literally write a book about how Hazel saved me.

She gave me purpose. She gave me a reason to wake up every single day for the last 11 years. She was truly the best dog, my best friend, my soul mutt, the love of my life, my everything. Every decision I've made in this life, every path I've taken, was all to give her a better life. But in the end, it was her who gave me a better life.

She is the reason The Heavenly Hound exists, the reason we have been able to help so many people with their pets. She has now fulfilled her purpose on this earth. Once the inspiration, she is now, truly, The Heavenly Hound.
